Amid the India AI Impact Expo 2026 in Delhi, a Bengaluru startup drew attention. General Autonomy showcased its indigenous quadruped robot named “Param.” The company declared Param as India’s most powerful indigenous robot dog. Moreover, it stressed that engineers built it entirely in India. In a post on X, the startup made a bold statement. It emphasized that Param was not assembled locally. Instead, Indian engineers designed and built it from scratch. Consequently, the announcement quickly gained traction online.

Viral Video Demonstrates Advanced Capabilities

A viral clip shows Param walking confidently in Bengaluru traffic. Furthermore, it detects obstacles automatically and adjusts its movement. The robot climbs stairs up to 30 centimeters effortlessly. Additionally, it performs crab walking for low-height entries. The startup highlighted autonomous navigation and tracking features. Moreover, Param can recover automatically after a fall. These features position it among advanced global quadruped systems. Therefore, social media users responded enthusiastically.

When asked about development, the company shared key details. The project has been underway for around seven months. However, the team leveraged prior humanoid robotics experience. Consequently, development progressed faster and more efficiently.

The company stated it improves Param every fortnight. Therefore, continuous upgrades remain central to its roadmap. Last month, General Autonomy exhibited Param before Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
