Delhi : In a tragic and brutal incident, Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal was murdered by her husband, Ankur, a government employee, on January 22, 2026. The chilling details surrounding her death, which have sent shockwaves across the city, include a terrifying phone call minutes before the crime.
According to Kajal’s brother, Nikhil, who is a constable with the Delhi Police, he received a horrifying call from Ankur just before his sister was killed. In the call, Ankur confessed, “Put this call on recording, it will help the police in evidence. I am killing your sister. The police won’t be able to do anything.” Moments later, Nikhil heard Kajal’s screams in the background, followed by Ankur’s grim message: “She is dead. Come to the hospital.”
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Kajal succumbed to her injuries on January 27, after a brutal assault during a domestic dispute. The attack, which took place around 10 p.m., involved Ankur smashing Kajal’s head against a door frame and then hitting her with a dumbbell. The forensic evidence found bloodstains on the door frame and the dumbbell, confirming the violent nature of the attack.
Dowry Abuse Allegations: A Love Marriage Turned Tragic
Kajal’s parents have alleged that her murder was the result of ongoing dowry harassment. They revealed that Kajal and Ankur had a love marriage after being in a relationship for several years, but Ankur’s increasing demands for dowry had made their lives unbearable. Despite giving more than they could afford at the wedding, the harassment continued.
This tragic case highlights the persistence of dowry-related violence and abuse, even in seemingly stable marriages. The family’s devastating loss has raised concerns about the lack of stringent measures to protect women from domestic abuse.
Kajal’s murder is a stark reminder of the dangers of dowry-related abuse and the emotional toll it takes on families. As investigations continue, this tragic incident calls for urgent action to address domestic violence and safeguard women’s rights in society.
