“Uttar Pradesh Is Firmly Committed to Advancing Green Hydrogen”: CM Yogi in Japan’s Yamanashi Hydrogen Facility

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Komekurayama Hydrogen Facility in Yamanashi, Japan, on Thursday. During the visit, he closely observed the advanced Power-to-Gas system in operation.

He examined how the facility produces green hydrogen using solar energy. Subsequently, the system converts renewable power into hydrogen for industrial fuel use. Therefore, the technology significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

CM Yogi praised the pioneering work undertaken in clean energy technologies. Moreover, he described Yamanashi’s approach as a valuable model for accelerating sustainable transition.

“Firm Commitment” to Clean Energy

After touring the facility, the Chief Minister reaffirmed Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to green hydrogen. He stated that the state firmly supports sustainable energy solutions and innovation-led development.

In a post on X, he highlighted the importance of clean mobility and environmentally responsible growth. Furthermore, he emphasised that innovation and self-reliance will shape Uttar Pradesh’s future energy strategy.

He noted that green hydrogen can play a transformative role in achieving long-term environmental goals. Consequently, he signalled that Uttar Pradesh intends to explore similar technologies actively.

Power-to-Gas System and Carbon Neutrality

The Yamanashi Hydrogen Facility operates through collaboration between the prefecture and ten corporate partners. These partners include Suntory Holdings, Toray, and Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings.

Together, they aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2026. Additionally, they plan to expand green hydrogen usage across the region systematically.

CM Yogi studied this collaborative framework carefully. Moreover, he viewed the partnership model as a potential blueprint for industrial cooperation in Uttar Pradesh.

Linking Sustainability with Economic Vision

The Chief Minister connected clean energy initiatives with the state’s broader economic ambitions. He stressed that Uttar Pradesh seeks innovation-driven industrial growth.

Furthermore, he aligned green hydrogen development with the goal of building a $1 trillion economy. Therefore, he framed sustainability as central to economic transformation.

Earlier, during his official visit to Singapore, CM Yogi secured significant investment proposals. He stated that Uttar Pradesh received proposals worth up to Rs 1 lakh crore.

Additionally, Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 60,000 crore were finalised during the engagements. He described these developments as milestones for the state’s economic expansion.
